Pac-Man Digital Scrapbooking Premade Album/Pages
With Pac-Man being one of my favorite games growing up I decided to create this scrapbooking page album in this theme. With Pacman being one of the most known and recognizable games all over the world. Almost everyone has played at least once, some kind of Pacman game, but a few know, that the origins of the game date back to Japanese company Namco, and more precisely – Toru Iwatani, one of its employees.
So here are some fun facts about this fun arcade style game and what brought me to create this cute Pac-Man inspired premade page Album.
At first, he called it Pakku-Man (what was the Japanese word for eating by snapping mouth), but after a while, he decided to change it into Puck Man. Although, this name didn’t catch on in English-speaking countries because of the noticeable similarity to the very popular F-word which people were concerned with this name. When Pac-man was released on may 22nd 1980, most arcade video games in North America were primarily space shooters such as Space Invaders, Defender, or Asteroids. The most visible minority were sports games that were mostly derivative of Pong.
Pac-man succeeded by creating a new genre and appealing to males and, what was unusual, females. Pac-man is often credited with being a landmark in video game history and is among the most famous arcade games of all time. This funny and amusing game has lots of fans despite it being quite old – however, it’s hard to believe but Pacman is 38 years old! Despite the lapse of time, plain graphics this game and lots of other Pac-man-like games still do not lose in popularity.
It has been reported that 94 percent of Americans recognize Pac-Man. In fact, in 2010, the Guinness World Records named him as the Most Recognized Video Game Character. And that's not the first Guinness Record Pac-Man has under his belt. In 2005, he was also named Most Successful Coin-Operated Game.
The original Pac-Man design was based on a pizza with a single slice cut off. As for Pac-Man's yellow color, it was decided upon because it was thought that yellow as a peaceful and neutral color. The four ghosts in Pac-Man are programmed to act differently: red chases you, pink just tries to position itself in a set way, blue tries to ambush you and orange is random. The red ghost is called Shadow and nicknamed "Blinky." The pink ghost is called Speedy and nicknamed "Pinky." The blue ghost is called Bashful and nicknamed "Inky." The orange ghost is called Pokey and nicknamed Clyde.
